Britannias are one of the most popular
The 2019 Britannia one ounce gold coins are one of the most popular one ounce gold coins for UK private investors portraying Philip Nathan’s design of the female personification of Britain remaining unyielded in the eye of a storm as an internationally recognised symbol of strength and integrity of the British Isles- an embodiment of national pride and identity.
The reverse side of the coin depicts the fifth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II as the face of Britain. The first Britannia coin was issued in 1987 by the Royal Mint with a 22-carat purity and element of copper. This was until 1990 when the copper was replaced with silver, and then silver by gold in 2013; now making this troy ounce of gold of 999.9 purity (24 carat).
This iconic design has been used since the times of Roman coinage and is available in one, one-half, one-quarter and one tenth of a troy ounce with face values of £100, £50, £25 and £10. This Capital Gains Tax-Free coin would be an excellent addition to any collection or investment of precious metal.
