Obverse: ELIZABETH II D G REG F D 2009 (Elizabeth II by the grace of god queen defender of the faith), fourth portrait of Elizabeth II, crowned with the girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, IRB below truncation for designer Ian Rank-Broadley. Reverse: Standing figure of a suffragette chained to railings and holding a banner, to the right a ballot paper reading GIVE/WOMEN/THE/VOTE, MMD monogram to right for designer Mary Milner-Dickens. First struck in 1998, this coin was restruck in 2009 to commorate the 40th anniversary of the fifty pence. These piedfort coins of this series were limited to a mintage of only 40 coins.
